Categories: main-event

At Mal'ta, west of Lake Baikal, a child was buried around 24,000 years ago with ivory figurines and ornaments. His genome revealed a population, now called Ancient North Eurasians, related both to later western Eurasians and to Native Americans. The Mal'ta-Buret' culture also produced some of the earliest known carved human figures in Siberia. The Mal'ta genome linked the prehistoric peoples of Siberia to the first settlers of the Americas.
