Andrei Rublev painted the 'Trinity' icon for the Trinity-Sergius Monastery, most likely in the 1410s or 1420s. Its harmony and luminous colour made it the most celebrated work of Russian medieval art. Rublev also painted in the Annunciation and Dormition cathedrals in Moscow and Vladimir. The Trinity is regarded as the masterpiece of Russian iconography and hangs in the Tretyakov Gallery.
