# Death of Igor and Olga's revenge (945)

In 945 Igor tried to collect a second tribute from the Drevlians, who killed him. His widow Olga took brutal revenge, according to the chronicle burning their envoys and their town of Iskorosten. Olga then reorganised tribute collection with fixed centres and payments. Olga's regency marked the first steps from raiding to regular administration in Kievan Rus'.
